Joint Custody Projekt Berlin

"You can never go home again
The title of the show refers to an American cliché, which proposes that as we move through life our assertion of what is "home" invariably changes. Many of you are not native to Berlin, Germany, or Europe itself. Some of you may have been born and raised here. You represent a typically diverse population of a large metropolis. We are interested in the proximity or distance, both cultural and emotional, from what you consider home.

Your task is to reflect on what home means to you. Where do you come from, and where do you find yourself now? Discover how your partner expresses these reflections and incorporate them. Your piece should claim a unified idea of home, or the absence of home. How do you answer the questions, 'Where are you from' and 'What is your home?' As the process develops, you should try to recognize what you and your partner have in common as artists and as people." http://jointcustodyproject.blogspot.com/

Amalgamation

"Because art is made of the same material as the social exchanges, it
has a special place in the collective production process. A work of
art has a quality that sets it apart from other things produced by
human activities. This quality is its (relative) social transparency.
If a work of art is successful, it will invariably set its sights
beyond its mere presence in space: it will be open to dialogue,
discussion, and that form of inter-human negotiation that Marcel
Duchamp called 'the coefficient of art,'…The work of art actually
shows (or suggests) not only its manufacturing and production process, its position within the set of exchanges, and the place, or function, it allocates to the beholder, but also the creative behaviour of the artist…So every canvas produced by Jackson Pollock so closely links the flow of paint to an artist's behaviour, that the latter seems to
be the images of the former."
(Nicolas Bourriaud)

"Amalgamation"
is a groupshow of Julia Calver, Alexander Chinneck, Richard Cramp, Klaas Hübner, Jack Killick, Annie Lord, Matthew Miller, Candida Powell-Williams, Helen Turner, Jack Strange, Clare Wallis.

Students of the Lodz Academy of Art and of the School of Art and Design Berlin Weissensee have jointly initiated LODZ-BERLIN EXPRESS, a project that aims to provide an international forum for discussion where artists from different cultures can exchange ideas and share experiences. The project shall enable and support cooperation between artists and the discourse about different artistic views, and enhance mutual understanding.
We want to start a long-term cooperation between the two cities and give young artists the opportunity to participate in international events.
We are looking for creative people who want to cooperate with us in different projects and to take part in our own exhibitions and workshops and to put in their own ideas.
The first collaboration projekt is the Berlin-Lodz-Express which will take of on the 5th of September for a ride trough Lodz and with a expo on board. This will be followed by a show on the 8th in "the Museeum of Books" in Lodz.

I beg your pardon, I never promissed you a rose garden!

papergirl

I think this project is so nice that you just have to fall in love with it and take part. Thanks for this great idea! The following is written by "papergirl". Please check out their web page!!!

Papergirl is an artpaper which will be
distributed this summer in Berlin
for the second time.

All kinds of contributed work by all kinds of people will be collected, packed in bundels and distributed by bike in the style of american paperboys.
The contributions can consist of a single piece or several copies; it can be a sticker, poster, drawing, text, picture and so on.
Everything you already have or always wanted to do. Even the amount and format is up to you, because nothing will be edited or printed afterwards. All given contributions will simply be collected, placed onto different piles which will be bundeled in the end. So each version will be an original, if you join in!
It will be a non-profit artpackage, to be handed out for free.

From 16.-19. of july there will be a preview in the Senatsreservenspeicher
(Cuvrystr. 3-4, U1 Schlesisches Tor)
in advance of the exhibition Planet Prozess.

Better watch the screen!

You better watch the screen! The german airline "Airberlin" has this animated films running during the flight like other companies. But this company has something really special. Instead of looking out of the window just next to you, you can have a view out of an animated airplane window just on the screen. What the fuck! And now you gonna watch on your screen how somebody looks through a camera filming a screen with an animated window to an animated landscape. Very deeeeeep!

hack in action

So here here is a little video to give an impression how this hack works. Well to be called musician i need some practice i guess. But i will work on that, promised!

18.02.2007

sound play station

This are some pc speakers hacked in a way that you can use them as a sound play station.
I just opened the amplifier, found out different connections on the circuit board which sound nice and marked them. Then I soldered cables on the spots and connected them to the unused circuit board I got from a friend. So you can use your fingers to build the bridge in the electric circle. When you touch the right points you can just play the control panel like a keyboard and also bend the sound the way you press it.
In addition I put the volume and the bass potentiometer each on one panel.
When you play both panels a the same time the sounds influence each other which gives you even more possibilities to play with.
ehhh??? sounds tooooo weird to you!? Don't worry I will add a video later on, so you can see how it works,

Berlin Funeral

On my way to school I found this guy looking at a digger moving the left parts of a industrial building. It looked quiet strange. He was dressed black with a big Berlin print on his back. In his hand a cheap shoping bag. Black too. It seems he was remembering something.

Daniel Kemenys Fridge Installation at the ICE

It was a great evening with a lot of nice people and some cool fridge installations. For me the best part of the ICE (In case of Emergency) was the Installation of Daniel who set up a stereo in the fridge and played a record made of ice. No .... there were no tracks on it! But it was a nice noisy sound. In the other fridges we found a frozen bubble, a singing electric bird, peas and other stuff. For more photos of the event look here and for more videos go here and search matchees.

mobile drum set

This mobile drum set I did a while ago for Andreas and Peter. They wanted to perform on the streets of Berlin and wanted to be very fast.
To carry around a drum set and build it up on the street is not quit comfortable to do, especially not several times a day. So we had to get a practical conclusion. We sat together and developed this mobile drum set out of some old parts of a drum kit and a hand truck we bought for 50 Euro in a shop. You can take it into the subway and then onto the streets and back and forth. Street music with a drum set is quiet rare in town. This drum set could change that! All you need is a old drumkit with some hardware and a handtruck ans some place were you can weld.

Just lift it up and move! The only thing you need is something to sit on.

I cut some part of the frame out and bend a new metal tube so that it fits around the base. The base is fixed with two bolds. One on the bottom and one on top.
On the other side I cut the frame and fixed the base drum like that.
