Audio Mimesis

Metronomics

another
vacant
space.

febrauary 24 2017

metronomics/
synchronisation /
syncopation/.
is a London Biennale invitational and selection to media artists of all disciplines, to be screened , and installed, where works are overlapped in sound and visual experimentation to evolve in a disturbance and interruption of the regular flow of rhythm of a traditional screening, a unique independent visual and audio, screening, and installative sculptural and object based presentation. disparate and (in)cohesive, a fenced chaos built in a time based labyrinth of another vacant space.

the artists´ have created a large mosaic of independent exploration, utopics/ distopics, drug and medicinal culture, bio tech art, geology, tectonics, the cultures of science and physics, biodiversity, conservation, tectonics, climate change and organic or man made pollinations, cultural, agricultural or detris. and with evolving contributions, the concentric widen into an erratic cluster of a hightened pulse.

metronomics will source immersive new media, to analogue constructs, spatially suspended sculptural and object based works.

SEDIMENT AND SMOG at Dandelions

After playing in Baden at the Kulturkeller and the Gessneralle in Zürich Simon and me will join another night with our music project Sediment & Smog.

Talk Show I: Tribute

The first Talk Show invites on stage a selection of people who took time to develop a vital relationship with the environment. They share their stories about a planet dealing with climate change, biodiversity loss and evolution – seeing as beautiful what we often don’t notice, or forget to look at.
We invite the audience to an urban space to remind what lies beyond our 24h human realities, grasping the varieties of networks of life. The evening proposes a vision test for our perception of time and space. What is our capacity of a sense of wonder?
When: Friday 23 September 2016 / 19h30
Where: Willner Brauerei Berlin, Berliner Straße 80-82, 13189 Berlin
Artistic direction and production: Vincent Bozek & Simo Vassinen

SOG, release on slip

'SOG'[SLP025] is the magisterial Slip debut of Klaas Hübner, the Berlin-based sound sculptor, improviser, and instrument-builder whose installations coax out uncanny chants from whirly tubes, ceiling fans, styrofoam, and cassette tapes. Recorded live in Germany and New Orleans from 2013 to 2016, 'SOG'’s six works mold elemental acoustic forces through elegant constructions ranging from the domestic to the gargantuan. On ‘single tube’, a lone Hübner swings a whirly tube above his head; on ‘château poulet’ - a collaborative work with Andrew Schrock - the artist’s body becomes a 10 metre tower, whose belt and clutch system whirls jumbo tubes attached to the blades of multiple ceiling fans. 'SOG'’s works play out time and time again in the interstitial zone between automation and spontaneity, machine and body. ‘schwarzwald’ submits ten tape loops of the artist’s voice to a mechanised dance which visually and sonically echoes an eerie forest; in ‘music for ceiling fan and tubes’, Hübner and regular collaborator Lysandre Coutu-Sauvé sing seductively through whirlies as a ceiling fan chops above their heads. Perhaps most astonishing is the psychedelic, otherworldly pleasures 'SOG'’s cyclic architectures illicit. An instinct for hypnotic, primal rhythm powers Hübner’s work as much as lyricism. ‘sswsw’ and ‘extended pickup #1’ - a pair of poignant motorised elegies for metronomes and a funnelled airstream - recall melancholic cuts from Actress or De Leon as much as canonic works from Ligeti, Cage, or Chris Watson. credits released May 22, 2016 Recorded and performed by Klaas Hübner 'music for ceiling fan and tubes' in collaboration with Lysandre Coutu-Sauve 'château poulet' in collaboration with Andrew Schrock Mixing & mastering by Owen Roberts Artwork by Klaas Hübner
